The Truth in the Clouds

I zigzagged through the forest trying to find a forest path. “GREAT!! Now I’m LOST! I’m going to be late for the auditions. PLUS if anyone finds out I left… Ummmm… Let’s not think about that now.” I complained to the forest… not knowing I had a listener. The watcher sat in the shade of the trees. She put a paw by her mouth and blew. A butterfly appeared and fluttered down to CloudWing.
"BUTTERFLY!!" I screamed happily and started chasing it. I pounced and landed in some bushes. The butterfly floated above the path. I tensed my muscles and sprang forward, catching the butterfly in my mouth. Then I looked up to see that I had also pounced on another cat. I hopped to my feet quickly and gave a confused look. "Ice??"
"Umm can you talk or are you just confused where I came from?" The tom cat asked. I looked up and blushed. "Ummm...well I can talk, but I’m confused because I was chasing this butterfly and I caught it and it just... NEVERMIND! I’ve got to go or I'll be LATE!!" I said while turning and running down the path. "But I don't know your-" I sonic boom as I run away "name?" He finished to nobody.
I arrived at the doors of the Academy with a few minutes to spare, and trotted towards the audition room. There were a few cats in line. I looked back and saw that someone had placed a “Sorry, try and get an appointment" sign. "Well I got here in time at least." I thought smiling. I was nearly at the front of the line when I began to get hungry. "Too late now." I thought as I was about to go into the audition room.
I walked into the room happily and faced the judges. There were about 10 or so cats. They all looked important to me, and I felt my hind paws begin to shake. "You must be CloudWing." Said a big black tom with purple eyes. He looked happy, but tired of sitting. The cat next to him stood and stretched. "Ok, please don't worry about the introduction! Just start." The white cat growled. The black cat swiped the white cats whiskers and hissed. "Sorry about LightningStrike's temper. She doesn't like the audition days. You can start when you're ready." The black cat smiled. I dipped my head in thanks.
I tried to calm down, but I kept shaking and couldn't focus. The cats were now looking back and forth at one another. The cat known as LightningStrike was waving her tail impatiently. I took a deep breath. "HURRY UP!!" LightningStrike hissed loudly. I squeaked trying to regain my concentration. But I was lost, frightened, and nervous. I looked at the cats and my eyes started to water. I lost everything from there out.
I started crying and tried to run away, but I didn't have any traction on the tile so I sonic boomed into the wall next to the door. The cats gasped, and stood up. I regained some of myself and ran out of the room, and out of the Academy.
I started I run at the speed of sound shortly after. Not looking back, just running into the forest. I was looking at my paws while I ran, but when I looked up T saw the cat I ran into earlier. His eyes widened and I tried to stop, but I skidded to a halt with my face buried in his pelt.
"Well, we have got to stop meeting like this. We haven't even introduced ourselves and you’ve already run into me twice." The tom says giggling. I look up at him and he stopped smiling. “What's wrong?” he asked with a concerned look on his face. At this question I burst into tears. “It’s ok… it’s ok” the tom tried to calm me down. “You want to talk about it?” he asks. I regain myself and wipe my eyes with my paw. I then look up at the tom. I was about to start explaining, but got distracted.
The sky grew dark and when I looked up there were thunder clouds gathering. My eyes grew wide as I watched the clouds grow, and grow, and grow. “What is going on?” the tom asks as he stares up at the sky. “No…” I mutter to myself. “What?” the tom asks looking at me. Then before I knew it lightning struck all around us.
As my eyes readjusted to the world I found myself surrounded by Cloud Castle Guards. There were about 40 of them, and they were all organized and battle ready. “Cloud! Cloud, you have broken the law. Traveling here to the world below the clouds. I, by order of the King, place you under arrest.” The main Guard announced. I snarl letting out a small growl when I recognised him. “NO!!!!” I state strongly. The Guards eyes widened, “No? Are you defying the laws of the King?”
“You heard me. Loud and clear… Father.” I say with much bitterness in the last word. My Father flinched a little at the sourness in my voice, but I didn’t care. “FINE!!!” he growled “We will just have to do this the hard way.” I huff and tense up giving a growl. “Ummmmm… would someone mind explaining to me what is going on?” the tom asks who was still there and hiding behind me.
"Take her down!" My father ordered. The first wave of cats came attacking from all sides. The tom whimpers and swings his head side to side trying to find a way out. I growl taking out three guards as the charge at me from the front. I send a bolt of lightning from my tail at the five guards behind me. I could feel the anger swell up inside me.
There was a pause in the attack, "GET HER!!!" My father growled angrily. The second wave of cats came in and shortly after the third. "Get ‘outta my way! You... You... You... MEANIES!!!!!" I scream starting to glow. My tail lets out sparks of lightning. Some cats still come at me and I throw them back automatically. Some in the third wave were concerned and frozen with wide eyes. "Diediediediediedie..." I mutter under my breath. "DIE!!!!!" I say flaring up with energy. Becoming a big bubble of energy, like an exploding of ball electricity... But not being blown to bits.
I get knocked back to reality. I feel dizzy and my head was spinning, but I was in MUCH better shape than everybody else. The guards were scattered on the forest floor on their backs, piled up, and in trees! My father was still standing in the same spot he was before, not with a single scratch or mark on his flank. I snarl, and shake my head to stop it from spinning. "Well, I guess it came down to this after all. I was REALLY hoping I wouldn't have to do this, but you’re leaving me no choice." He spoke with confidence, but I could hear his annoyance. I felt the anger inside me start to boil up again.
I give a snarl and spring at my father with open arms and claws. He falls into an attack crouch and waits for my attack. I land where he used to be, but before I could land a blow he moved to the side. I growl and claw at his side. He grimaces in pain and reaches out and claws my cheek. I hiss and jump on his back digging my claws into his shoulders and sending out small sparks of electricity. He howls in pain and tries to shake me off, but this only makes me grip harder. Full of rage I bite down on his left shoulder causing his to collapse with the weight of me on only three paws. I jump off of him, and he made an effort to stand. “Is that all you got?” he says sarcastically, swaying due to his wounds and exhaustion.
I growl, “At least I can actually back up my snobby comments.” I say snarling showing my fangs. My father snarls at this remark, “You’ll regret saying that!” he growled taking a shaky step forward. “What are you going to do? Send me to my room?” I snap my voice full of anger. His eyes widen and I could tell that he wasn’t expecting that. “Now Cloud. You better go back home now before the King sees this as an act of betrayal.” My father growls. “ ‘Said it once and I’ll say it again. I am NOT going home. Not now, not ever!” I say with bitterness. He looks at his paws and sighs. “Fine.” he says looking up at me with his normal ‘I don’t care about you’ eyes, and his serious face.
“Then, by orders of the King. I hereby state that, CloudWing, will be unable to open the Gate of the Clouds and be stuck in the Surface World till her very last moment.” he states then just like he came, he left with a bolt of lightning, along with his guards. I hiss and claw at the ground. “Fine!!! I won’t miss anybody. I sure know nobody will miss me!!” I snap up at the clouds. “Ummm… Are you alright?” My eyes widen and I swing my head around to see the tom up in a tree holding onto a branch for dear life. I giggle and smile up at him. “You never told me your name.” I smile.
The tom laughs and smiles, "I don't think we’ve properly introduced ourselves period." he responds. "Well, I'll start then. Name's CloudWing!" I say giving a great big smile up at him. "Mine's Melt." He said smiling. Suddenly, there was a loud snap. His eyes widen. "Oh no." He says right before the branch snaps and goes crashing down to the ground. "Are you ok?" I ask with wide eyes. "...Ow." He says shaking his head and blowing leaves out of his face. I laugh and look down at him. "Do you want to get up?" I ask tilting by head in a smile. "Umm... Yeah." He says rolling over onto his side and standing up. He shook the leaves and twigs from his long fur and then looked at me. My eyes are probably as big as they can get and my face is straight. "Ummm... Do have something to say?" He asks. Before I know it my paw is reaching out and I’m smiling.
"FLUFFY!!!!" I say tackling and rubbing my face on all his fur, that looked like a lions mane. "Umm... I see you like my mane." He said nervously lifting an eyebrow. I snap back to reality, and quickly jump away, giving a nervous look. "Sorry." "Ohh, it's fine. Don't worry about it." He says while he stands up and shakes the dirt from his fur. We stare at each other for a moment then I burst into laughter, falling to the ground and rolling around. I look up and see he’s concerned, kind of scared and nervous. I laugh even harder, and when I open my eyes again I am surprised. I jump to my feet just as fast as I fell to the ground and get all up in his face. His eyes widen and he starts leaning backwards. "You haven't run away yet." I state looking straight into his luminescent purple eyes. "Why would I run away?" He asks. I could tell he was dead serious, and back away sitting down after a few steps. "Well, everyone does. After they see how hyper and happy I am I start laughing and the next thing I know... I'm alone." I say looking at the ground. He tilts his head.
Melt starts laughing and I look up. He is just standing there, laughing at me... Or what I said. "I would be mean to run away. I wouldn't do that to a friend." He says smiling down at me. "Really…? Are you really my friend?" I ask nervously looking up at him. "Um, YEAH! You have tackled me and talked to me. So that means we're friends." He says. "And DO NOT ask if I'm serious... You know why?" He says and looks at me. "Why?" I ask excitedly. "'Cause I'm DEAD serious." He says seriously. I can't help myself but burst into laughter.
Melt rolls his eyes and smirked. "Here we go again." He says giggling. I lay on my back laughing. I peak open one of my eyes and see Melt laughing as well. I finally calm down enough that I can stand up straight and look at Melt. "Soooooooo..." I start.
"Excuse me, I don't mean to interrupt, but I need to speak with CloudWing." A voice calls from behind us. Melt and I both turn around. My jaw falls to the ground (well at least I think it did). Melt's eyes just widened. "You can stop looking at me like that." The newcomer says in an irritated voice. "LightningStrike! Stop being rude!" Says another voice. "Hey! Your the two cats from the auditions." I say remembering back to a while ago.
"Yes, we are. Please, let me introduce ourselves properly. I am ThunderCrack." ThunderCrack says dipping his head. "This is my twin, LightningStrike." He says gesturing to her with his tail. The then lifts his paw and covers half his mouth as if telling a secret in someone's ear. "She kind of has a temper." He whispers, smiling playfully and winking. I giggle and Melt looks at me, and rolls his eyes.
"Oh please." LightningStike says rolling her eyes and looking away into the forest beside her. "Well! Now to get to business. I, I mean WE." ThunderCrack says giving his twin sister a small shove. "Yeah," She says sarcastically. "Let's get this over with." She mutters rolling her eyes and turning her head in disgust. ThunderCrack nips at his sister and she turns around in surprise. But by the time she turned around giving a hiss, he was already facing us. "Anyways, as I was saying. Actually, I would like to start off by saying that I am TRULY sorry about my sister's behavior. She usually can be bad tempered, but sometimes she is just REALLY bad." ThunderCrack apologizes and gives a sorry smile, and was shoved by LightningStrike.
"ANYWAYS... We, mostly I, wanted to come tell you that you made it into the school." ThunderCrack states. I give a small gasp and go into a small few moments of shock. "I know you didn't really audition, but we saw your little... Performance with the gang of cats and we’re impressed. I know it is impolite to spy... Unless it is the enemy and technically were are their enemy sooo... We're ALL technically enemies of somebody. But anyway, we wanted to tell you in person." ThunderCrack finished dipping his head slightly.
Melt tilts his head in confusion. "OK!!" I say with a high, squeaky, voice. "Great. Well, I can't wait to see you grow at the school." ThunderCrack said and turned around. "Come on LightningStrike." ThunderCrack said while slapping in his tail on his sister's shoulder. “Finally.” LightningStrike rolled her eyes and turned to follow ThunderCrack down the path. And just as randomly as they appeared, they disappeared.
“Wow!” Melt exclaimed then turned to look at me. I look up at  the sky. “Ummm… Are you ok?” Melt asks. My eyes start to tear up on the sides, and I sniff. I then turn my head to look at Melt. By that time I was smiling with only two single tears from each side of my eyes. “YUP!!” I smile ear to ear, or so it seemed. “Good, because I don’t know how to handle crying she-cats.” He says nervously. “I promise I won’t cry.” I say happily. “Good.” He says with a sigh of relief, then returning the smile.


“I will not allow my emotions to run wild. From this day forward I will control them. I will hide my past, and live among the ‘Lower Class’ until I find a way back to the Cloud Castle. I will find a way, and when I do…”
